Located on the third floor of Plot 400 on Gouraud Street in Gemayzeh, this 280 square meter apartment represents a classic example of Beirut’s central hall typology, featuring triple arch openings and a ceiling height of 4.05 meters. The structure consists of five rooms and a northern arched balcony, with exterior bearing walls made of rectangular-cut sandstone.
While the concrete slab ceiling and masonry walls remained largely intact, the plaster sustained minor cracking. The team repaired these by replacing old finishes with new lime-based plaster to maintain the building’s historical integrity.
Additionally, a full renovation of the woodwork was completed, including the repair or replacement of all internal and external doors, windows, and traditional wooden shutters, successfully returning this heritage unit to its original grandeur.

By focusing on the rehabilitation of Beirut’s built heritage at both the cluster and neighborhood scales, aiming to preserve not just physical structures, but the very socio-economic and cultural fabric of the city.
